ARE YOU ENROLLED? Health insurance enrollment deadline is March 31st!

DID YOU KNOW…

One in three lower-income lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) adults in the United States are living without health insurance? That’s why it’s more important than ever to learn about your new, affordable health coverage options available in the Health Insurance Marketplace and get covered before the March 31 enrollment deadline.

Every plan available in the Health Insurance Marketplace will have to cover important benefits like doctor visits, hospitalizations, prescriptions, preventive care, and more. Under the Affordable Care Act, no one can be treated differently in the Marketplace because of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression and you cannot be denied coverage or charged more for having HIV, cancer or any other pre-existing condition. You’ll have the same access to health insurance plans as everybody else.

There are multiple ways to get help and find a plan that’s right for you – online, in person, or over the phone.

  1. Visit healthcare.gov to see your options, find out if you qualify for financial assistance and enroll in a plan online.
  2. In-person assistance is available in your area! Visit localhelp.healthcare.gov to find the nearest organization who’s ready to help you understand your options and find a plan that best suits you. (Note: all of the participating organizations are prohibited from discriminating against the LGBT community.)
  3. Call 1-800-318-2596 to compare options, ask questions, and enroll in health coverage. Available 24/7!

There’s also an initiative called Out2Enroll that focuses on getting the LGBT community covered. They are on Facebook, Twitter (tweet with #Out2Enroll and #GetCovered), and online at out2enroll.org!
