Statement of Florida LGBTA Democratic Caucus on the Transgender Military Ban

DELRAY BEACH FL – Today, the Trump administration’s policy banning transgender service members goes into effect. The controversial regulation prevents transgender military personnel from serving openly and blocks the use of Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security funds for transition care. Stephen Gaskill, president of the Florida LGBTA Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement:

“The Trump administration’s continued attacks on the LGBTQ community continue unabated. Rather than supporting those who choose to serve our country, the administration instead goes out of its way to intentionally harm those who would protect us. We are hopeful the courts will positively resolve this issue, and we say to our transgender brothers and sisters: We see you. We support you. And we stand with you.”
