DELRAY BEACH FL – Today, the US House of Representatives passed HR5, the Equality Act, to end discrimination of LGBTQ individuals. Stephen Gaskill, president of the Florida LGBTA Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement:

“Even before the Stonewall Riots 50 years ago, LGBTQ Americans have been fighting for our civil rights. While we have made major strides in recent years, we are not guaranteed to be treated equally under the law. Today, under the Democratic leadership of the House of Representatives, we have moved one step closer to achieving equality. This bill eliminates discrimination in employment, education, public accommodations, and so much more. When one of us is denied our equal rights, all of us suffer. The time for equality is now.”
